So I’m trying to import a chef hat prop for the doge avatar, created in 3ds max. But I can’t seem to get it imported into facerig.

This is the folder I pass to the Phidias tool:

And here’s the output from said tool: http://pastebin.com/NLvH7WwN

Yet I still can’t get it to show up in facerig. The material is named doge_sht_metalcloth_chefhat

    Any suggestions?

Mesh file in case anyone wants to take a deeper look: http://www50.zippyshare.com/v/24221222/file.html

Update 1: Updated my FBX version and now it shows up in Props Adv, but not in props:

Also the UV seams glow green for some reason, I guess I should try a different shader?
Finally, I’d like to make the top of the hat jiggly, is there a tutorial for that?

Update 2: Improved the diffuse map a bit, played with backgrounds and added a fork. I assume only rigged meshes will end up in the props tab? I’d still like to know if I can make the hat jiggle, then I can share it if anyone else wants a copy.

Super nice works on those props, congratz 🙂 . Chef Doge looks adorable 🙂

The script imports the props specifically for an avatar and not as generic props (like the ones Props-Adv) was broken wand we have fixed the script yesterday. You could only export to Props ADV. The next update will update the import script and fix the bug.

More details about this specific bugs are here:

Also sorry for the late reply. Will ping the artists about this thread, because lately usually they spend more time on Steam Forums rather than the official forums : http://steamcommunity.com/app/274920/discussions/6/

Starting this Monday we will have new staff member that will focus more on the official site too, writing/ updating guides, and generally spending more time on social channels 🙂 .

Yes you can make the chef hat wiggle like the hat on the Halloween Witch., but It may take some hot wiring ( i.e text editing in the output mds file) because the import path for those properties is not yet built.

I’m requesting more details on this~

Perhaps you could provide the files for the martian antenna as an example?
